Holly Hunter (born Holly Hunter) is an American actress and producer. She has been recognized for her stellar performances in films including Broadcast News The Firm The Piano, and The Incredibles. Her film Piano won her an Oscar. The path to acting began with Broadway through a myriad of Broadway and Off Broadway initiatives. Since her childhood, she has been passionate in the field of acting. She was Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school production. The actress was deaf in one ear following a bout of the mumps virus, however she did not allow this handicap to hinder her desire to be an actress. She was a drama major at the college, and then moved between Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her dream. Hunter made her Broadway debut following an unplanned conversation with Beth Henley, a playwright. They collaborated on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. As she relocated to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to get film roles. The role of a supporting actress was secured for Swing Shift. In the three decades since her time in Los Angeles Holly Hunter has been in many films, television movies and series. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also her Women in Film Lucy Award.
